Leopard Facts- A group of leopards is called a leap or prowl.
- Leopards are usually found in Africa.
- Leopards are elusive and live in thick forest of jungle, hidden from view.
- Leopards are solitary animals the females living with their cubs. The males live alone protecting a large territory.
- They hunt alone too. They stalk their prey then Chase or pounce when they get close enough.
- Leopards hunt much of what the lions hunt but they do not go for the larger animals such as Buffalo. They will also hunt rodents and small reptiles.
- A litter consists of about 1 to 4 cubs.
- Once the cubs reach 2 years of age their mother chases them away. She will begin the breed again.
- Leopards can live up to 15 or 20 years in the wild.
- Leopards can grow up to 3 to 6 feet long. Males can weigh from 80 to 200 pounds, females; 62 to 130 pounds.
- Coloring: Golden, tan or brown base covered with spots called Rosettas. They can also be solid black. Eyes: grey, orange, yellow or green.
Role Play Leopards- Litters can be up to 5. No more then that!!
- Leopards will live, work and hunt together in a leap.
- Adolescent leopards will be mentored by the whole Leap.
